Download latest PTBSync Version

AVAST is so stupid that it blocks PTBSync without showing you any warning.
It forbids PTBSync to write into the folder "My Documents".
You must explicitely unblock PTBSync in the configuration of AVAST, or better uninstall this crap software.

New in Version 6.7g:
Adapted to Microsoft's changes in Windows 11 version 24H2 where a black trayclock appeared.

New in Version 6.7f:
Bugfix: If more than 9 desktop notes were used, data corruption was possible.

New in Version 6.7e:
The trayclock has been adapted to badly programmed third party software for Windows 11.
When this software was installed the trayclock did not start or showed completely black.

Recommended for Windows 10, 11: Adobe Flash Player

If you like the PTBSync Flash clocks you need the Adobe Flash Player.
But sadly it is no longer possible to install Adobe Flash on Windows 10 or Windows 11.

If you want to display the PTBSync Flash clocks on your desktop, ElmüSoft offers an individual solution for you:

Download   Manual Adobe Flash Installer   (25 MB)

Recommended for Windows 11: Explorer Patcher

In Windows 11 Microsoft has crippled the taskbar.
The quickstart icon area has been removed.
The taskbar cannot be displayed vertically anymore.

Valentin-Gabriel Radu has found that the Windows 10 taskbar still exists hidden in the Windows 11 Explorer.
After installing Explorer Patcher, right click the taskbar, in the menu select 'Properties'.
Then switch to the Windows 10 taskbar and click 'Restart File Explorer'.

This project is also based on reverese engineering of Windows Explorer.
PTBSync has been tested to cooperate with this software.

Download  Explorer Patcher (ep_setup.exe)   (1,7 MB)

Recommended for Windows 7, 8, 10, 11: Classic Shell

After the era of Windows XP Microsoft has continuously deteriorated the startmenu.
If you want a user configurable startmenu back, install Classic Shell from Ivo Beltchev.

It has a ton of features for the startmenu and the taskbar:
  • Highly customizable start menu with sub-menus and multiple styles and skins
  • Quick access to recent, frequently-used, or pinned programs
  • Find programs, settings, files and documents
  • Start button in the Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and custom style
  • Toolbar and status bar for Windows Explorer
This project is also based on reverese engineering of Windows Explorer.
PTBSync has been tested to cooperate with this software.

PTBSync Version History

PTBSync was the first program that I published on my homepage.
The development started in 1999 on Visual Studio 6.
In times of Windows 95 the computer clock of my Pentium 300 was permanently showing the wrong time.
The first PTBSync version synchronized the computer clock with the atomic clock of the PTB
(Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt) in Braunschweig, Germany, therefore the name PTB Sync
It automatically detected when a modem connection to the internet was available and fetched the time.

My program brought me much feedback from users who asked for more features.
In the following years PTBSync was growing and growing. I spent decades of my life with the development.
PTBSync won many awards on software websites and in computer magazines. In PC-Welt it was ranked under the TOP 10.
A scheduler was added, the primitive Windows trayclock was completely replaced and a desktop calendar was added.
Wilfried Dewaelheyns added the calculations of holidays and special days for 70 countries.

In all these years since 1999 Microsoft has released many new Windows versions: 95, NT, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, 11.
With every new version Microsoft screwed up my program. Programming that before was OK, suddenly was declared as obsolete.
64 bit came out, multi-monitor support was added, process elevation was introduced and the user could switch the monitor scaling factor.
All these changes required adapting PTBSync.
Until today Microsoft is making changes resulting that PTBSync does not work anymore after a Windows Update.
All these Microsoft Updates forced me to release hundred PTBSync versions that adapt to Microsoft's permanent changes.
This continues until today.

The version history is very long.

Desktop Organizer & Event Calendar
My program PTBSync (in english + deutsch) has an event calendar / scheduler with lots of features, calculates the holidays of 70 countries, can display multiple gadgets on the desktop (current weather, birthdays, moon phase, menstruation calendar, world clocks,...) pins notes on the desktop, replaces the primitive Windows trayclock and adds a detailed tooltip, synchronizes with an atomic clock, and much more.
ECU Hacker & Tuner
connects to ECU's (Engine Control Units) from motorbikes, cars and trucks, shows parameters, clears DTC's, has tuning for a Delphi ECU, has an ECU emulator, can analyze the CAN bus using cheap adapters, supports many protocols, has a sniffer and manual data injection for K-Line and CAN Bus, allows you to write your own macro scripts that communicate over K-Line and CAN Bus.
Oscilloscope Waveform Logicanalyzer
displays oscilloscope waveforms and has A/D converters, noise suppression, precise time measurement, logic analyzer with decoders for UART, SPI, I²C, CAN bus (also CAN FD) and chip-specific decoders. Can split half-duplex communication. Transfers signals over USB (SCPI) from the oscilloscope to the computer and remote controls the oscilloscope. It is open-source and you can extend it with new features.
Subtitle Tuner
calculates the display duration of the subtitles based on the count of characters in the text. This avoids that badly created subtitles disappear before you could read them. Can remove deaf texts, lyrics, italic/bold. Can resynchronize a subtile to a movie with different framerate or change the subtitle offset.
Secure Doorlock with RFID Cards
is a project with an RFID antenna and a Teensy processor that opens a door with Mifare Desfire cards. The RFID cards of up to 64 users can be stored in the flash memory. It is extremely secure because it uses strong encryption. A big battery assures that the door can be opened during a power failure.
Remote Control your Computer with Infrared
An infrared receiver and a Teensy processor allow to remote control the music player on your computer with any old remote control that you have from a TV, amplifier, DVD player, SAT tuner or whatever. The Teensy simulates a keyboard and sends keystrokes to the music player.
3D Render and Editor Control in C#
A .NET control that can be easily implemented into System.Windows.Forms applications to display 3D graphs. The user can move and rotate the graph with the mouse and edit single points. Many display modes are available: 3D surface, 3D shapes, 3D lines, 3D objects, also animated 3D objects.
USB HID Touchscreen
A Teensy processor emulates keyboard, mouse and touchscreen at the same time to remote control a computer for automation purposes.
